STV currently has a position open for an Environmental Planner, in our Tennessee Transportation division to assist with various transportation and environmental planning projects.
As an Environmental Planner you will play a key role in preparing and reviewing reports that ensure compliance with environmental laws, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Clean Air Act, Section 4(f), and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. In addition, you will analyze local, state, and federal transportation planning criteria, land use and transportation data, and GIS data to develop transportation plans for cities, counties, and state departments of transportation.
Your Role:
Support the development and evaluation of alternatives under NEPA and related state and federal environmental laws
Guide scoping, purpose and need development, and alternative analyses.
Support preparation of feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, and other transportation planning documents
Support preparation and review of NEPA and technical reports and documents
Support project quality initiatives including quality plan development, quality assurance reviews, and providing guidance to project management teams to comply with project requirements
Support the preparation of proposals
Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and the public through presentations, public involvement programs, and agency meetings
Deliver high-quality work products on time and within budget
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in planning, geography, or related environmental sciences preferred
Minimum of 3 + years of related experience
Experience in environmental analysis, planning, or transportation studies, ideally with state/local DOTs, FHWA, or FTA
Strong writing and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Demonstrated expertise in managing project scopes and schedules effectively.
Familiarity with Federal and state regulations and guidelines related to transportation planning
Familiarity with NEPA compliance, public outreach programs, and stakeholder engagement
Willingness to travel regionally to support project work
Preferred Skills:
Proficiency with GIS mapping and analytical tools, such as ESRI ArcGIS, Google Earth
Established relationships with TDOT would be preferred
Compensation Range:
$47,619.94 - $63,493.25
