The Technical Solar Administrator provides administrative and technical support to solar installation, engineering, and operations teams. This role ensures that solar projects are accurately documented, scheduled, compliant with regulations, and completed efficiently from quotation stage through to installation and commissioning.
Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesProject Administration
- Coordinate and track residential, commercial, and industrial solar projects.
- Maintain project documentation, contracts, permits, and compliance records.
- Assist with project scheduling and installation planning.
- Monitor project timelines and communicate updates to clients and internal teams.
- Prepare project files and ensure all documentation is complete before installation.
Technical Support Administration
- Compile and manage technical documentation, including:
- Site assessments
- Single-line diagrams
- System designs
- Engineering reports
- Commissioning documents
- Update and maintain solar project databases and CRM systems.
- Assist technical teams with data collection and reporting.
Procurement and Inventory Support
- Process purchase orders for solar equipment and materials.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding stock availability and deliveries.
- Track inventory levels of panels, inverters, batteries, mounting structures, and electrical components.
- Ensure accurate recording of equipment received and allocated to projects.
Compliance and Regulatory Administration
- Assist with municipal and utility applications.
- Prepare documentation required for grid-tied system approvals.
- Maintain records relating to electrical compliance certificates and industry standards.
- Ensure project documentation complies with relevant South African regulations and industry requirements.
Client and Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as a liaison between clients, installers, engineers, suppliers, and project managers.
- Schedule site visits and installation appointments.
- Respond to client enquiries regarding project progress and documentation requirements.
- Prepare project status reports and completion packs.
Reporting and Data Management
- Generate weekly and monthly project reports.
- Track project costs and budgets.
- Maintain accurate records of completed installations.
