An experienced and commercially focused Senior Legal Advisor with strong expertise across construction law, renewable energy projects, and complex commercial contracts. Proven ability to manage the full contract lifecycle from tender and negotiation stages through to project execution, claims management, dispute resolution, and final close-out.

Extensive experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating NEC, FIDIC, and bespoke construction agreements, while identifying and mitigating legal and commercial risks across supplier, subcontractor, and client contracts.

Provides strategic legal and contractual guidance to executive leadership, operational teams, and project stakeholders, ensuring compliance with corporate governance, regulatory requirements, and internal legal procedures. Strong background in contract administration, commercial negotiations, claims support, contractual notices, and dispute management within engineering, infrastructure, and renewable energy environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

Review, draft, and negotiate construction, supplier, subcontractor, EPC, and client agreements during tender, negotiation, and execution phases.
Identify contractual, commercial, and operational risks and provide mitigation strategies and alternative commercial solutions.
Prepare commercial qualifications and contractual deviation schedules for tender submissions.
Provide legal and contractual input during client clarification meetings, negotiations, and stakeholder engagements.
Coordinate internal legal and commercial reviews during tender and contract negotiation phases.
Draft, review, and negotiate NEC, FIDIC, framework, and bespoke construction agreements.
Provide legal and commercial support relating to contractual notices, claims, disputes, variations, and amendments.
Assist with the preparation, review, and management of contractual claims and supporting documentation.
Liaise with external legal counsel regarding disputes, adjudication, arbitration, and litigation matters where required.
Ensure compliance with company governance frameworks, legal procedures, and internal commercial policies.
Ensure compliance with POPIA and support documentation management and regulatory obligations.
Maintain contractual records, document registers, and agreement tracking processes throughout the contract lifecycle.
Coordinate contract execution processes, including approvals, signatures, and final agreement management.
Support project teams with contractual interpretation and execution compliance during project delivery.
Participate in weekly tender and commercial review meetings to assess new enquiries and contract status.
Conduct legal research and provide ad-hoc legal and commercial advisory support across the business.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
Support business development initiatives and assist with securing commercially viable agreements.
Ensure efficient turnaround times and delivery of legal and commercial support services.
