*Note: The overnight shift is 12 midnight to 8 am, including weekends and holidays. Majority of work on this shift is performed indoors however there are times when work is performed outside, and work performed may be subject to extreme heat and adverse weather including rain and/or cold temperatures.

Summary:
The Jekyll Island Guest Information Center is hiring Guest Information Specialists for regular part time schedule (less than 30 hours per week). The overnight shift is 12 midnight to 8 am, including weekends and holidays. Under limited supervision, Guest Information Specialists greet guests to the island, answer questions, provide information, directions, maps, etc. Operate point-of-sale system for retail sales and parking fee programs.
Description:
- Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills, responds to guest inquiries in a professional manner.
- Operation of point-of-sale system for retail sales and parking fee transactions.
- Deposits all receipts, completes verification of deposit records, and ensures all monies are accounted for.
- Provides visitors with maps, directions and information in a helpful and courteous manner.
- Participates in training activities to optimize customer service skills.
- Restock brochures and notifies Manager of low inventory levels.
- Restock inventory and maintain clean and orderly sales floor.
- Applies AVI stickers to customer vehicles and enters data into parking database.
- Assists customers at Plaza gates as needed.
- Assists with special projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
- Two years retail/customer service experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office required.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, in addition to overnight shift - may also have opportunity to work 4pm - midnight shift.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Credit, Criminal and MVR background check required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Majority of work is performed both indoors and outside. Work performed may be subject to extreme heat and adverse weather including rain and/or cold temperatures.
- Noise level is considered normal to loud.
- Work is subjected to hazards; moving vehicles.
- Exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 15 pounds frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- More than 50% of a typical workday will be spent walking, standing, balancing (standing on and using 1-2 steps), reaching, using fingers to handle objects such as money, and using repetitive motions of the wrist, hands and fingers.
- Between 25% and 50% of the typical workday will be spent stooping (bending at the waist) and lifting.
- Less than 25% of the day is spent kneeling, crouching, sitting, pushing and pulling
- Sensory abilities required include vision, hearing and touching with more than 50% of the day spent communicating; talking and hearing.
- Must have visual clarity to prepare and analyze data and figures, use the computer and expansive reading.
