About you and this role
Dow has an exciting job opening for a Sustainability Program Manager, within Public Affairs. This role can be located at most major Dow sites globally. This rewarding, yet challenging position offers significant skill development and growth in one of Public Affairs specialty areas – Global Citizenship.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading global citizenship initiatives to promote circularity, decarbonization, water stewardship and healthy ecosystems with a focus on communities that experience disproportionate environmental risks and burdens.
Dow’s global citizenship program managers are strategic program leaders that drive Dow’s philanthropic activities and corporate social responsibility work. You will be a part of the Global Citizenship, Public Affairs organization and will report to the Global Citizenship Leader.
Responsibilities
- Lead Dow’s Global Citizenship sustainability strategy, including partnering with non-profit and non-governmental organizations in different regions to drive positive outcomes in Dow communities around the globe.
- Manage the Business Impact Fund, working closely with Global Citizenship leader. The Impact Fund is an annual competitive grant fund designed to drive shared value. Responsibilities include partnering with businesses to promote the Impact Fund, review of concept notes and applications, project coaching, organization of the selection process and grant disbursements.
- Monitor and support ongoing Business Impact Fund projects, ensuring progress and measurement of outcomes.
- Work with businesses to identify new shared value projects.
- Serve as relationship manager for key global citizenship partnerships aligned to the Sustainability pillar.
- Partner with global citizenship leads to ensure regional and local charitable contributions portfolios address sustainability efforts.
- Support employee engagement efforts aligned to sustainability, including #PullingOurWeight.
- Collaborate with Sustainability to identify and launch new non-profit partnerships and serve on Water/Nature PMO Partnerships Team.
- Lead risk assessment and mitigation efforts for Sustainability pillar, with a special emphasis on environmental claims made by partners.
- Support global citizenship measurement framework and activities. Ensure sustainability grant outcomes align to Company’s water and biodiversity goals.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant working experience.
- Ability to work with a team located in the United States, Eastern Time Zone, with potential for future travel to the U.S.
- For U.S. Applicants: A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills
- Broad knowledge of corporate responsibility trends and expectations, Dow’s sustainability strategy, and objectives to build authentic and impactful corporate citizenship initiatives.
- Prior sustainability experience.
- Experience working on cross-functional teams and successfully managing multiple stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of Dow’s ambition, financial priorities, sustainability challenges, and commitment to Inclusion, Diversity and Equity.
- Ability to work with a variety of cultures, functions and businesses, along with the skills to manage multiple projects and expectations simultaneously, prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines.
- Strategic mindset, strong initiative, ability to influence and work effectively across a diverse global team.
- Excellent project management skills, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Analytical capabilities and a proven ability to use data to determine strategic direction and tactical implementation.
