Low Carbon Manager – Building South
Location: Solihul, Guildford, Uxbridge or Bristol
What you will be doing:
An opportunity has arisen for a Low Carbon Manager to join the team at Galliford Try.
As Low Carbon Manager, you will support our staff and be a subject matter expert advisor to the Board / Senior Leadership Teams (SLT) for our southern Building BUs (Business Units). You will be an important enabler in our Journey to Net Zero across all our operations by 2045.
You will manage and drive the BUs’ response to the low carbon agenda to reduce carbon within the assets we deliver (and the processes in which we deliver them), support our customers’ ambitions to reduce their carbon and support our Group initiative to achieve PAS 2080 accreditation in 2024.
Key Responsibilities
You will work centrally within the business to support our project teams to deliver Low Carbon Construction in the assets that we build by:
- Supporting upskilling of our workforce to understand their contribution to low carbon construction and develop their ability to effectively lower carbon.
- Advising on low carbon technical solutions to our internal design staff and external consultants to deliver whole life low carbon design solutions.
- Enabling and monitoring collection of data within carbon measurement tools in design and during construction to better understand our carbon footprint and illustrate progression in reduction of carbon in delivery.
- Managing reporting to respond to internal targets and external client requirements.
- Developing and maintaining our Carbon Management Process in line with PAS 2080 to make carbon reduction part of everyday business as usual and maximise our carbon reduction opportunities.
- Carrying out engagement with the wider value chain (Policy makers, Industry bodies, Clients, Consultants, Sub-contractors and Material suppliers) on carbon. Supporting them on their journeys to net zero so they in turn can support us. Including assessing industry progression and how it’s effects will impact on our future operations.
- Facilitating sharing of lessons learnt internally across the business and externally to the wider industry to accelerate adoption and drive efficiencies.
Location
At Galliford Try, we are committed to flexible and agile working. You will cover a geographical area of the business including Midlands, South and Southwest with offices in Bristol, London and Solihull. Day to day working locations are flexible but regular face to face contact with project and business unit teams will be required and you will have the opportunity to travel across multiple offices/sites/projects in these areas.
About You
We are looking for experienced managers and encourage candidates with all project role backgrounds (commercial, design, operations, consulting) to apply and bring their perspectives to the role.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience within a Built Environment sector relevant to the role you are applying for and/or relevant carbon management experience.
- Ability to establish strong, collaborative working relationships.
- Excellent team player.
- Focus to drive and deliver results.
- Understand buildability.
- Passionate about low carbon construction and the Net Zero challenge.
- Interest in upskilling yourself and keeping pace with a fast paced changing industry.
- Strong IT skills including Excel, Word and MS Office.
- Interest in problem solving.
- Be comfortable delivering training and presenting both internally and externally.
