Job Purpose:
The Lead - Electrical drives the design, integration, and validation of turbine electrical systems, ensuring high performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. The role focuses on SCADA integration, subsystem validation, thermal management, and power quality optimization, addressing compatibility challenges and ensuring efficient load distribution. It leads the testing and maintenance of critical components like converters, transformers, and generators to align with performance goals. The role supports field operations, conducts root cause analyses for subsystem failures, and implements corrective actions to improve reliability. Additionally, it collaborates with cross-functional teams to refine designs and ensure manufacturability, contributing to long-term operational efficiency.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
1. Converter Systems (Power Electronics)
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in wind turbine converters (Full scale / DFIG converters)
- Analyze faults related to IGBTs, control boards, DC links, and cooling systems
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring converter trips and failures
- Support firmware updates and parameter optimization for improved performance
- Coordinate with OEMs for advanced technical issues and failure resolution
2. Pitch System
- Maintain and troubleshoot pitch control systems (hydraulic/electrical pitch)
- Handle pitch drives, motors, backup systems (UPS/battery packs) and controllers
- Investigate pitch-related alarms such as runaway, mismatch, communication errors
- Ensure proper calibration and alignment of blade pitch mechanisms
- Improve reliability and reduce downtime through preventive strategies
3. Generator Systems
- Diagnose faults in wind turbine generators (DFIG / synchronous / PMG types)
- Conduct insulation resistance tests, winding health checks, and vibration analysis
- Troubleshoot issues such as overheating, imbalance, bearing failures, and grounding faults
- Support major repairs and overhauls in coordination with service teams
- Ensure generator performance meets expected power curves
6. Cross-functional Coordination
- Work closely with O&M teams, OEMs, and site engineers
- Provide technical training and guidance to field teams
- Support commissioning and retrofits when required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Strong fundamentals in power electronics, control systems, and electrical machines
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Wind turbine converters (IGBT-based systems)
- Pitch control systems
- Generators (DFIG/PMG/Sync)
- Expertise in fault diagnosis and root cause analysis
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and data analysis tools
- Knowledge of grid compliance and wind turbine control philosophy
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with major OEM platforms (e.g., Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, GE)
- Knowledge of condition monitoring systems (CMS)
- Exposure to retrofit projects and turbine upgrades
- Certification/training in wind turbine technologies

Industry Knowledge:
