Senior Environmental Advisor – Yilgarn Iron Ore Hub
TS Staffing are partnering with Yilgarn Iron as they restart operations at the Yilgarn Iron Ore Hub. The assets have recently been acquired and operations are scheduled to restart around September.
Key Responsibilities
Contractor Engagement
- Work directly with mining and processing contractors to ensure operations comply with environmental plans and WA legislation
- Monitor contractor activities and provide guidance to maintain environmental compliance
Site Environmental Management
- Hands-on management of dust, noise, water, flora, and fauna on site
- Respond to environmental incidents, investigate causes, and implement corrective actions
- Conduct inspections and audits to ensure compliance with approvals, licences, and site management plans
- Deliver environmental training, inductions, and toolbox sessions for site staff and contractors
Compliance & Technical
- Understanding of Part IV and Part V of the EP Act and other relevant regulations
- Experience in environmental monitoring (water, soil, dust, air)
- Understanding of compliance obligations across DWER, DMIRS/DMPE, GWL, NVCP, Works Approvals, NPI and NGERS
- Experience conducting environmental inspections and incident investigations
- Strong data analysis capability and proficiency across Microsoft Suite
ESG and Reporting
- Support ESG initiatives and reporting, aligning site practices with corporate sustainability goals
- Contribute to environmental planning across CAPEX and OPEX activities
- Ownership and delivery of environmental reporting requirements (internal and regulatory)
Senior Expectations (in addition to Advisor responsibilities)
- ~5+ years operational environmental experience (preferred)
- Strong reporting experience across site and regulatory requirements
- Extensive understanding of WA environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Proven experience managing consultants and external providers
- Ability to operate with a high level of autonomy and provide guidance to site teams
About You
- Operational environmental experience, ideally within iron ore or mining
- Strong working knowledge of WA environmental legislation and mine approvals
- Confident communicator, able to work closely with contractors and site teams
- Degree in environmental science or equivalent
