Supervisor – Earthworks | 2:1 Roster
Overview
We are seeking two experienced Earthworks Supervisors to support a fast-paced civil package in Port Hedland.
These roles report into the Superintendent and are responsible for running individual work fronts across road widening and remediation works within salt ponds and along a seawall access road.
This is a programme-driven project with a fixed end date and LDs attached, requiring strong on-ground supervision and consistent delivery.
Scope of Works

~10km of road widening, remediation and tie-ins
-
Rebuild of seawall access road
-
~180,000m³ bulk earthworks
-
Detailed trim and finishing works
-
Breaking out heavily compacted salt/calcrete (“calite”) using D8/D9 dozers
-
On-site quarrying, conditioning and testing of materials
-
Minor drainage works including concrete chutes and rock placement
Ground Conditions
-
Highly saline environment
-
Salt crust encasement requiring removal and rebuilding into bunds
-
Sections of heavily compacted material requiring ripping
-
Non-standard road construction environment with challenging materials
Standards
The Role
You will be responsible for managing a defined section of works, including:

Supervising crews of approximately 10 operators
-
Coordinating plant, materials and daily activities on site
-
Driving production to meet programme requirements
-
Maintaining quality and compaction standards
-
Monitoring progress and reporting on performance
-
Leading safety on site, including toolbox talks and inspections
-
Managing subcontractors and resolving on-site issues
-
Working closely with the Superintendent and broader site team
This is a hands-on role requiring strong site presence and the ability to keep works moving.
What We’re Looking For

Proven experience supervising bulk earthworks and road construction projects
-
Strong understanding of production, sequencing and plant coordination
-
Ability to operate in a schedule-driven environment with delivery pressure
-
Experience managing crews and subcontractors on active work fronts
-
Practical, solutions-focused approach with a willingness to take ownership
-
Comfortable working in less structured environments without heavy systems
-
Not suited to candidates from purely mining production or overly process-driven backgrounds

Double side tipper truck fleet

Graders with GPS/UTS for final trim
-
D9 dozers for ripping hard material

Loaders, water carts and rollers

2:1 FIFO roster

$79/hour inclusive of $5/hour PIP
