Superintendent – Earthworks | 2:1 Roster
The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Earthworks Superintendent to lead delivery on a fast-paced civil package.
This is a site-based role overseeing multiple crews across road widening and remediation works within a challenging salt environment. The project is programme-driven with a fixed end date and liquidated damages attached, so maintaining production and keeping work fronts moving is critical.
Scope of Works
~10km of road widening, remediation and tie-ins
Seawall access road rebuild
~180,000m³ bulk earthworks with detailed trim requirements
Breaking out heavily compacted salt/calcrete (“calite”)
On-site material winning, conditioning and testing
Limited drainage including minor concrete works and rock placement
The Role
Manage 6 Supervisors across multiple work fronts
Oversee ~50 operators and associated crews
Drive production, programme and daily output
Coordinate closely with Project Manager and Project Engineer
Ensure works meet required quality and testing standards (AS3798 / AS1289)
Maintain safe, efficient delivery in a difficult ground environment
This is a hands-on delivery role with a focus on execution, keeping crews moving and hitting programme rather than being process-heavy.
What We’re Looking For
Strong background in heavy civil earthworks within a contractor environment
Proven experience running multiple crews and work fronts
Experience delivering under pressure on schedule-driven projects with LD exposure preferred
Ability to manage productivity in challenging ground conditions
Practical, solutions-focused approach
Comfortable working in a developing systems environment
Plant & Equipment
Excavators up to 36t
D9 dozers for ripping hard material
Graders with GPS/UTS for final trim
Side tipper fleet, loaders, rollers and water carts
Roster & Package
2:1 roster
$105/hour plus super paid on ordinary hours
Accommodation provided in South Hedland
Duration
Start mid-May
Project runs through to December with a fixed programme end date
