DescriptionIn this role, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality building performance analysis and sustainability insights across multiple projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary design teams and the WSP UK team to ensure accurate modelling outputs, clear communication, and strong project coordination—supporting both early‑stage design and detailed performance assessments.
Responsibilities- Undertake building performance modelling, including Part L compliance, overheating assessments (TM52/TM59), operational energy analysis, Climate risk assessment, Microclimate assesment and thermal comfort studies.
- Support planning applications and early‑stage design strategies through accurate modelling insights, sustainability analysis, and environmental design advice.
- Conduct passive design analysis to support low‑energy building strategies.
- Perform parametric modelling to evaluate design sensitivities and optimise building performance outcomes.
Proven experience in conducting Whole Life Carbon (WLC) assessments, including embodied and operational carbon calculations aligned with industry standards. (RICS, TM 65 etc)
- Capability to interpret WLC results and support design teams in identifying carbon reduction strategies across building materials, systems, and construction methods.
Familiarity with relevant assessment tools and databases such as OneClick LCA.
- Knowledge of Circular Economy principles, including material efficiency, reuse strategies, low‑carbon material selection, and design for disassembly.
- Ability to apply circular economy thinking to project workflows, supporting designers and clients in reducing waste and improving resource recovery.
- Communicate modelling outcomes clearly to design teams and clients, ensuring complex technical concepts are translated into actionable and practical design recommendations.
- Contribute to sustainable design strategies across a wide range of sectors including Residential, Commercial, Healthcare, Education, and Sports facilities.
- Apply strong project management, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills to deliver high‑quality energy and sustainability outputs across multiple projects.
- Provide continuous feedback to the Local Head of GCC on modelling protocols, workflows, and processes to support continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with the WSP UK Team, ensuring transparent communication regarding project progress, modelling results, and sustainability strategies.
- Participate actively in project and team meetings, share progress updates, and coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across WSP.
- Identify project risks—technical, commercial, or compliance‑related—and escalate or resolve them in alignment with company procedures.
- Manage delegated modelling and analysis tasks efficiently, ensuring deadlines are achieved and resourcing requirements are communicated to the team leader.
- Identify, justify, and communicate additional fee requirements related to modelling scope expansion or technical enhancements to the Local GCC Head of Sustainability.
- Support the Lead Engineer with team management and mentorship responsibilities.
Desired Skills
- Strong knowledge of Building Physics.
- Proven experience delivering building energy modelling using IES (preferred) or any other software. (Design Builder, Energy Plus)
- Proven experience WLCA using One click LCA .
- Experience with green building rating standards like BREEAM, LEED and WELL is highly desirable.
- Experience with detailed ApHVAC/ HVAC modelling is highly desirable but not essential.
- Excellent working knowledge of relevant codes and standards like Part L / TM 54 / TM 52/ TM 59.
- Data Analysis and reporting using excel.
- Experience with Rhino and Ladybug tool is highly desirable but not essential.
Software Skills
IES, One Lick LCA, Elmhurst SAP, Rhino and Ladybug, Revit, AutoCAD.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s in architecture
- Masters’s degree in Building Performance or related field.
- Minimum of 8+ years relevant work experience.
