Job Description and Duties
Under the direct supervision of the Staff Services Manager I (SSMI), Discrimination Complaint Investigation Unit (DCIU), and the functional guidance of the Staff Services Manager II (SSMII), within the Equal Employment Opportunity Program, the incumbent coordinates with Headquarters, District Management, and District Equal Employment Opportunity Staff to conduct formal discrimination complaint investigations and tasks associated with the successful enforcement of the Department's Equal Employment Opportunity Policies and related Deputy Directives, to include: Title VII; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles, Equity Statement, and processes priority cases on an expedited basis as assigned. Job function may be altered to fulfill needs within the program.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Associate Governmental Program Analyst exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS: A completed State Application form (STD 678) and written Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) are required for an applicant to be considered for an interview. The SOQ must be in narrative form (no bulleted content and not a resume) and tailored to this specific position rather than a general summary of your qualifications. Not following these SOQ instructions will result in disqualification from the hiring process. The SOQ should be no longer than one page, single spaced, and written in 11-point font. The SOQ should address the following:
• Describe a time when you had to investigate a potential problem. What steps did you take throughout the investigative process, how did you stay organized, what tools did you use, what was the outcome and how did you come to a conclusion?

Desirable Qualifications
The incumbent must possess knowledge of rules and regulations concerning the EEO Program, discrimination complaint process, and both state and federal anti-discrimination laws. Must be able to use a word processing system such as MS Word to write, review, and edit documents. The incumbent should be familiar with and able to utilize database systems for data entry and records administration. Interviewing, public speaking, and training skills are also required to promote and fulfill the responsibilities of the EEO Program.
The incumbent must be able to act independently, manage a complex and varied caseload, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Superior communication skills, the ability to work effectively with others.
