Job Description and Duties
Lead and participate 50% in daily unit projects. Operate Category 2 equipment used by the assigned unit. It may be necessary for the incumbent to operate Category 1 equipment if properly licensed, a Class A driver’s license would be desirable.
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, the Leadworker assists the Supervisor with the following tasks: scheduling work of the crew; assure that all equipment is serviced and maintained properly; lead the crew and give on the job training in a wide variety of maintenance functions; observe the crew to be sure that work habits follow the Code of Safe Practices and Chapter 8; provide for the safety of the crew and the traveling public; conduct safety meetings. Assists the Supervisor in preparing monthly and yearly workload plans.

For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Working Conditions
Position located in 3940 Rosin Ct, Sacramento CA, Sacramento County. This is a traveling crew.
Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
Much of this position is labor intensive. Incumbent must have physical ability to react quickly to errant motorists and do strenuous hand and mechanical labor. Required to work in a wide range of sometimes extreme conditions, including heat up to 120 degrees, cold to –15 degrees, strong winds, rain, sleet, and snow.
