Job Description and Duties
The Division of Engineering Services (DES), Program/Project Management and Office Engineer (PPM&OE), Office of Construction Contract Awards (OCCA), Funding Branch, is recruiting for a Senior Transportation Engineer (Sr TE) (Supervisor) position, located in Sacramento.
Under the general direction of the Supervising Transportation Engineer, the Sr TE (Supervisor) is responsible for planning, directing, organizing, coordinating, and supervising the work of the Funding Analysis Branch. The primary responsibility of this position involves analysis and comparison of the final engineer's estimates and bids submitted by the contractors to ensure adequate funding according to the project allotment and budget allocation for contract awards. This position requires working closely in coordination with Project Managers, Project Engineers, District Project Control, Headquarters (HQ) Accounting, HQ Local Program, and Federal Resources Engineers.

Working Conditions
Position located at 1727 30th Street, Sacramento, Sacramento County.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Special Requirements
- The incumbent must have an active Professional Engineering License from the State of California.
- Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required.
The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. SOQ must be typed and no more than 2 pages, single-spaced, using 12-point font. Resumes do not take place of the SOQ. Failure to submit the SOQ will disqualify candidates from the hiring process.
- Describe your education, knowledge, experience, and leadership practices that make you the most desirable (or qualified) candidate to lead the Funding Branch.
- Describe your knowledge or experience with project delivery, construction contracts advertising and awards processes, cooperative agreements, and financial programming.
- Describe your ability to work with minimum direction and supervision, to initiate action independently, to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, to learn new tasks quickly with little or no formal training and to be responsive to customers and management alike.
- Describe your ability to develop and implement organizational improvements and/or innovations.
