Shizen Energy, a leading Japanese renewable developer, is also active in developing renewable power plants overseas in South East Asia and Latin America. As business is growing quickly, we are recruiting for a M&A / Business planning Associate or Manager, subject to experience of the candidates. The role of the M&A team members will be to source and execute new renewable energy deals and provide business planning support to foster the wider growth of the business. The M&A team will be primarily responsible for transactions and planning in Japan but may also support international projects in Southeast Asia and Brazil. Remote working is supported, although the selected candidate needs to be based in Japan so that they can join face-to-face meetings in Tokyo from time-to-time.

Job Description
As an M&A Specialist you can expect your scope of duties to be as follows:
• Lead or support execution of transactions including due diligence, selection and management of advisors, negotiation of contracts, valuation / model, closing process etc
• Develop bespoke deal structures to address specific interests, allocate risks and realize value
• Build and maintain relationships with Shizen’s investors and partners, including international and Japanese companies
• Support management of JVs and enforcement of contractual rights and obligations
• Source, evaluate and propose new deals to Shizen’s management
• Lead or support presentations to investment committee and obtain consent from stakeholders for transactions
• Lead or support cross functional teams from internal departments such as legal, finance, development and others as needed for the specific project
Skills and Experience
【Required】
Skills and Experience
• 3 to 10 years of M&A experience in investment banking, big 4 accounting firms, renewable developer or similar
• Transaction contracts (SHA, SPA etc) experience
• Valuation and financial modeling experience
• Knowledge / experience of FP&A / business planning
• Independence, proactive, flexibility and good communication skills
Language
At least business level proficiency in both English and Japanese - able to have discussions and understand professional terms in both languages.
【Preferred】
- Experience in the renewable energy industry
- Familiarity with Google's IT platform (Google Workspace)
