Job Description: Project Development Manager (Tokyo / Solar & BESS)

Position Overview:
The Project Development Manager will play a crucial role in the development of solar energy projects and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Tokyo. This position involves managing various aspects of project development from inception to completion, ensuring that projects are executed on time, within budget, and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of solar and BESS projects, including site selection, feasibility studies, and project design.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to secure necessary permits and approvals.
- Develop and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other contracts related to project development.
- Originate new project opportunities and maintain relationships with potential partners and investors.
- Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
- Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations throughout all phases of project development.
- Attend industry events and conferences to stay updated on market trends and innovations.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 5 years of experience in project development, specifically in renewable energy sectors such as solar or BESS.
- Strong project management skills with a proven track record of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with renewable energy regulations, market structures, and PPA frameworks.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.
Desired Experience:
- Experience specifically in solar energy development and BESS projects is highly desirable.
- Prior engagement in PPA origination and contract negotiations preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of the energy market and regulatory environment in Japan.
