Are you an experienced sustainability expert, and would you like to work in a change-driven, people-oriented, and international environment? Are you looking for an opportunity to take a leading role in the execution of the sustainability strategy for our HR function and contribute to NN’s overall strategic ambitions?
What you are going to do
We believe that the financial sector has an important role to play in the transition to a sustainable economy. As a values-led company, NN is committed to doing business with the future in mind and contributing to a world where people can thrive for many generations to come.
Sustainability is reflected in our company’s strategic commitments and implemented in our different roles as an insurer, pension provider, bank, investor, business partner, buyer – and of course, as an employer. Within HR we want to ensure that we are able to deliver on our company’s ambitions by doing what we do best: building a Future Ready workforce, creating the best Employee Experience, and being a digital & data driven One HR team.
To make sure we adequately identify opportunities and risks and address all legal requirements in the area of ESG and sustainability within our HR function, we are looking for a HR Sustainability lead. The ‘S’ in ESG is an essential component of our sustainability approach and HR has an important role to play in contributing to our performance in the area. As HR sustainability lead, you will translate the company’s overall Sustainability & Social impact strategy into a relevant and measurable operational approach for HR.
Your responsibilities
As HR Sustainability lead, you are a real team player and operate in a customer centric manner, you are highly interested in external (ESG) developments, and you are keen to drive the HR sustainability agenda for NN Group.
Your responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement a sustainability approach, operational plan, targets, and specific initiatives for NN’s HR function, fully aligned with NN’s overall sustainability strategy and social roadmap
- Collaborate with other teams and departments – such as the Group Sustainability & Social Impact Expert Centre, Corporate Communications, Facility Management – to integrate sustainability initiatives into HR policies, controls and practices
- Conduct gap assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement within HR, and develop action plans to address any gaps
- Be a first point of contact for HR-related sustainability matters and inquiries (e.g. CSRD, CSDDD, ratings) and – together with colleagues – ensure smooth process management
- Monitor and report on sustainability performance metrics related to our workforce
- Represent HR in various internal working groups and networks, and contribute to the development of NN’s annual reporting process
- Stay up-to-date on sustainability best practices and trends, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement, including opportunities to leverage technology and innovation to drive sustainability outcomes for HR
What we offer you
NN invests in an inclusive, inspiring work environment and in skills and competences for the future. We match this with employee benefits that are in line with what is needed today and in the future. This way, we offer our employees the opportunity to get the best out of themselves. We offer you:
- Salary between € 5.597,- and € 7.996,- depending on your knowledge and experience
- 13th month and holiday allowance are paid with your monthly salary
- 27 vacation days for a 5-day working week and one Diversity Day
- A modern pension administered by BeFrank
- Plenty of training and learning opportunities
- NS Business Card 2nd class, which gives you unlimited travel, also privately. Do you prefer to travel with your own transport? Then you can declare the kilometers travelled
- Allowances for setting up your home office and for internet use
Who you are
- Relevant academic degree (e.g. law, finance, economics, sustainability)
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of sustainability, preferably including legislation and reporting, within the financial industry
- Solid understanding of business strategy, and high affinity with HR and people related topics
- Strong interest in technology, data and analytics
- Results-oriented self-starter with the ability to think and advise strategically, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Ready and able to deal with, and initiate change processes
- Execution power and ‘getting things done’ mentality
- Fluent in English and Dutch (written and spoken)
Who you will work with
The HR Strategy & Change team (5 FTE) focuses on change, transformation, communication, and employee experience. The team is responsible for monitoring the progress we make on our HR strategy and projects, the HR KPIs, the multiyear (run and change) calendar, and ensuring we take a ‘One HR’ approach when Group-wide initiatives are implemented. The role of HR Sustainability lead will be part of this team.
In this role, you will also work closely with the Sustainability & Social Impact team – responsible for the overarching NN strategy and policy house in the area of sustainability, and for supporting the integration of sustainability into the activities and processes of the Business Units and Group Support Functions.
