Job Description:
As part of the Low Carbon Fuels (LCF) Regulatory Strategy team, you will contribute to our global regulatory intelligence and compliance efforts across all Trading & Supply(T&S) LCF Global business units. Your role will have a global focus, involving the monitoring, capturing, and consolidating of complex and sometimes conflicting data. This will enable you and the team to identify opportunities and threats to our business and respond in ways that maximize value for T&S LCF.
Where you fit in
The Shell Trading & Supply (T&S) Products organization is at the heart of Shell’s Downstream business. T&S Products exists as the integrator with the rest of Shell PLC to enable stronger End to End (E2E) value delivery. Low Carbon Fuels (LCF) is a fast-growing business within our Trading and Supply (T&S) Products organisation, established to enable the delivery of Shell’s low carbon fuels strategy.
T&S LCF spans the broader Shell PLC, exposing you to a diverse range of stakeholders both internally and externally. This provides an excellent platform to enter or accelerate your career at the heart of the energy transition. Internally, you will work closely with various Shell PLC businesses, focusing on decarbonizing many hard-to-abate sectors, including but not limited to aviation, maritime, chemicals, as well as the Hydrogen and Mobility (EV), Feedstock, and M&A businesses.
What’s the role?
You will be at the forefront of identifying opportunities and understanding risks through a deep comprehension of the LCF regulatory and voluntary landscape. Additionally, you will gather knowledge and insights into the political landscape, which plays a crucial role in the LCF space. This includes the European Green Deal, the US IRA, regulatory targets, decarbonization commitments, the role of novel feedstocks, and the ban on ICE vehicles in Europe and Canada by 2035, for example.
You will also perform the following responsibilities but not limited to:
- Keep track of current events and global policy issues within the context of low carbon fuels to inform advocacy & business strategies.
- Develop innovative approaches around data sources/research methods to harvest & collect data impacting the dynamic low carbon fuels regulatory landscape.
- Collate, and analyse harvested political & regulatory intelligence data, highlighting trends and developing conclusions leading to opportunity and threat identification.
- Create and update summaries, reports, overviews, papers for internal stakeholders, and where applicable present trends/findings.
- Monitor in real time external legislative environment using both internal and external resources ensuring our internal reports, papers and presentations are update accordingly
- Create and manage real time/weekly/monthly bulletins sharing regulatory & political Intelligence including legislative events and summarizing external engagement diaries.
What we need from you
We are keen to hear from individuals who is passionate about Low Carbon Fuels, renewable space and the energy transition. In the Low Carbon Fuels space, the Regulation is continuously changing, as a result the Regulatory risk is the single biggest threat and opportunity driver to the T&S as well as wider Shell plc LCF businesses.

- Experience in consolidating information and identifying key points.
- Ability to stay ahead by keeping pace with recent developments in this space, processing information from multiple sources in real time.
- Strong attention to detail, with a curiosity and passion for analyzing and understanding the low carbon fuels regulatory environment, energy, and climate plans, and identifying risks and opportunities.
- Ability to formulate opinions and to challenge the status quo.
- Skill in synthesizing large amounts of information into manageable summaries and highlights that can drive effective advocacy and business opportunities through others.
- Highly motivated, strong communicator with a self-starter mentality and a great team player mindset.
