In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our Emerging Technologies - Oral Finished Products facility in Durham, NC is a 194,000 square foot tableting and packaging facility that supports the production of our innovative oral treatments for patients with type 2 diabetes. The Position
Provide leadership & support in attaining a safe working environment, provide direct support for production & maintenance, collect & report environmental data.
Relationships
Senior Manager.
Essential Functions
- Implement safety programs
- Support Production & Maintenance with safety management
- Provide safety expertise & solutions to all managers & projects for resolving known or potential issues
- Provide safety training & tools for the core processes to improve safety performance
- Communicate safety performance statistics on a monthly/weekly basis
- Review all recordable accidents & coach root cause analysis, corrective & preventive actions departments
- Provide backup support for the ISO14001 Environmental Management as well as ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
- Increase the awareness of safety through various communication tools
- Management Circular for Zero waste initiatives & control processes
- Assist in management & record keeping for Health & Safety qualifications, programs, & compliance requirements
- Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties
- Other accountabilities as assigned
Physical Requirements
Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Strap & unstrap pallets using hands. Must be able to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. May perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments depending on site. May position oneself within confined spaces for inspection if required of the role. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. May be required to secure a motorized vehicle license & operate a motorized vehicle based on the role.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or (GED) is required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a safety environment required
- Construction and expansion experience is preferred.
- Full knowledge of OSHA regulations required
- Good skills in root cause analysis for analyzing accidents preferred
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001 & 14001 a plus
- Emergency Management / planning knowledge & experience a plus
- Pharmaceutical experience a plus preferred
- Good communication & writing skills required
- Organization/Planning: Ability to develop & manage action plans to achieve targets required
- Ability to work Monday - Thursday 10 hr day shift
