As a New Graduate Environmental Engineer/Scientist – Emergency Response, you will play a meaningful role within our Environmental Group. This position gives candidate the unique experience of working in a matrix business performing work with skilled professionals across North America in a collaborative environment with opportunities for specialization and advancement. This role is based out of our Vancouver, BC office.
Emergency Spill Response:
- Required to be available 24/7 to assist with emergency spill response work for clients in various provinces across western Canada
- Spills may include train derailments, pipeline releases, trucking accidents, chemical spills, etc.
- Emergency Preparedness and Planning, and Incident Management (ICS)
- Assist in preparing emergency response plans, participation in emergency exercises, and provision of training to clients, etc.
- Work with various business groups within the region in order to accomplish urgent client deliverables and tasks
- Experience in environmental investigation and remediation
Field Work:
- Participate in emergency spill response projects
- Responsible for contractor oversight tasks including containment/confinement of spills, drilling, monitoring well installation, soil excavation, product removal, stream rehabilitation, site restoration, etc.
- Conduct water level monitoring, groundwater sampling, surface water sampling, and soil sampling
- Drone/UAV operation and surveying
- Industrial hygiene air monitoring and sampling
Report Writing:
- Assist with preparation of regulatory submissions on behalf of clients
- Create progress updates and draft reports to be reviewed by supervisor or project manager
- Build charts, tables and figures for review by project manager
- Assist in the preparation of project related memorandums and reports
- Assist other team members and project managers with proposal writing
- Researching regulatory information using various resources

Desired Skills & Experience:
- B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Geological, Chemical or equivalent). Minor in business administration would be an asset
- 0 - 2 years of work experience related to the role, co-op experience would be considered a benefit
- Flexible work schedule, ability to work weekends, holidays and nights when required
- Previous experience working in a consulting environment would be an asset
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are vital to this role in order to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including subcontractors, field staff, clients, colleagues, etc.
- Work as a team member to exceed client expectations
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- High level of attention to detail, analytical skills along with time management skills to be able to meet deadlines
- Field work will require working long hours, working in inclement weather conditions, and lifting up to 50 lbs, when required
- Willingness and desire to travel, with the ability to work remotely and internationally
- This junior position will be roughly 80% field and 20% office, with the option to occasionally work from home.

Salary Range: $64-76k, based on experience.
