As an Environmental Coordinator working in the Operational Support team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a vital role in helping project teams ensure environmental and contractual compliance on our projects. Supporting our large-scale building and infrastructure projects - ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion – you will have the opportunity to provide advice, support and assistance to ensure legislative compliance.
What you will do
- Prepare, validate and implement environmental plans in conjunction with the Project Teams (e.g. Environmental Protection Plan, Erosion Control Plan, Waste Management
- Provide advice and expertise on various environmental issues associated projects, including but not limited to, Water Quality, Sensitive Environments, Contaminated soils etc.
- Cooperate and assist both internal and external stakeholders in meeting the certification objectives and target point requirements.
- Verify subcontractors' contractual obligations and the accuracy of their work as it relates to environmental requirements.
- Maintain environmental performance indicators (non-conformities, spills, residual materials, best practices, etc.) and complete associated documentation in Procore.
- Report any apparent deviations from requirements that may affect environmental and the certification obligations as soon as possible and assist with regulatory reporting as required.
- Find proactive solutions to maintain environmental compliance, to meet the requirements and commitments of the certification process, as well as the objectives of the Project.
- Work with the Project Team to develop construction methodologies that minimize environmental impacts.
This role could be for you if you have
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, sustainable development, engineering, geology or a similar field.
- Have a professional designation (RPBio., P.Ag., P.Eng., etc.) or in training status, or willing to obtain.
- 3 – 5 years of experience in the environmental field.
- Construction worksite experience
- Skill in sampling.
- Knowledge of municipal, provincial and federal environmental regulations.
Additional Assets Include:
- Experience working on marine construction projects.
- Knowledge of LEED and/or Envision certification.
The expected salary range for this opportunity is $75,000 - $100,000. Please note that salaries may vary depending on the candidate’s experience and geographical location.
