ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Environmental and Regulatory Specialist to join our Vancouver office. In this role, you will be responsible for managing environmental and regulatory compliance, conducting impact assessments, and ensuring adherence to environmental laws and regulations. You will work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to promote sustainable practices and mitigate environmental risks.
As an Environmental and Regulatory Specialist, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Oversee environmental compliance for projects, including permit applications, environmental assessments, and reporting.
- Conduct site inspections and assessments to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans and mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, clients, and internal teams to address environmental and regulatory concerns.
- Monitor changes in environmental regulations and advise the company on necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.
- Prepare and review environmental documentation, including reports, permits, and compliance records.
- Provide guidance on environmental best practices and sustainability initiatives.
- Assist with other responsibilities as needed to contribute to the overall success of the team
We are looking for the following skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., R.P.Bio, EP) is an asset.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in environmental and regulatory planning.
- Knowledge of BCER policies and application process is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and best practices in British Columbia and Canada.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with regulatory agencies, clients, and team members.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal and team safety by closely following company safety policies, standards, and procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach.
