Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult is recruiting a MONITORING AND EVALUATION OFFICER – 12 month FTC. ORE Catapult is ambitious about unlocking the economic, social and environmental opportunities presented by offshore renewable energy. This role is critical to gathering robust evidence on the reach and impact of our wide range of interventions, enabling us to refine these to meet the needs of the sector, encourage support for our programms and projects, and be accountable to our key stakeholders.
This is an ideal role for candidates with an interest in policy evaluation, economic development and/or energy, and provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about innovation funding, project management and the UK’s exciting offshore renewables sector.
This role can be based within commutable distance of any of our sites and we are open to discussing flexible working arrangements at interview stage.
What will I do?
- Responsibilities of the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer shall include:
- Supporting business development and project delivery teams to provide good quality data and evidence on projects and partners
- Analysing and reporting on data quality
- Producing data queries, reports and visualisation to meet impact reporting and evaluation needs, working with the Impact Evaluation Manager and external economics specialists
- Proactively analysing and reporting results, trends and insights emerging from ORE Catapult’s data
- Identifying improvements to systems and processes for managing and reporting impact data, and integration of other data, working with the ICT colleagues to implement these
- Contributing to the production of various strategy, performance and impact plans and reports, including those for internal and external stakeholders, and for wider communication of the achievements of ORE Catapult and the partners we support.
What are we looking for?
ESSENTIAL:
- A degree, or equivalent experience, in a relevant area, including: Economics, Energy Policy, Public Policy, Data Science/ Analytics, Statistics
- Experience of, and aptitude for, working with quantitative and qualitative data (identifying, cleaning, assessing, analysing) to support reports or studies, with aptitude to visualise/ present data in compelling ways
- Strong general IT skills and experience; strong Excel and PowerPoint skills and experience of using databases is essential
- An analytical and methodical mindset, with good planning and problem-solving skills
- Innovative and creative thinking
- Self-motivated and pro-active, with tenacity to resolve issues and deliver results, and acquire new skills and knowledge
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Sound communication and relationship management skills, with the confidence to work collaboratively and respectfully across the Catapult
DESIRABLE:
- Ability to use Power Query and/or Power BI
- Experience of one or more programming language (eg R, Stata, Python)
- Experience of defining, applying and monitoring data quality standards
- Experience of working on projects relating to renewable energy, business acceleration, technology innovation, and/or with public funding.
