Renewable Energy Project Developer
Leap29 is partnering with a leading client that develops, builds, and operates wind and solar PV projects worldwide, actively advancing green Hydrogen and Power-to-X sectors.
As a Renewable Energy Project Developer, you will lead the development of onshore renewable energy projects in the UK, progressing them from initial stages to the ready-to-build (RTB) phase. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the development of utility-scale renewable energy generation and storage projects, guiding them through the early stages to construction readiness.
Following project consent, your role will expand to include the discharge of planning conditions, risk identification, and support for our in-house Engineering and Construction teams through the pre-construction and construction stages, ensuring compliance with planning consents through to handover to our Asset Management team.
The Ideal Candidate: We seek a candidate with a proven background in UK-based renewable energy project development, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to drive project progression through the consenting phase.
Key Responsibilities:
•Champion a robust culture of quality, health, safety, and environmental (QHSE) practices throughout project development.
•Define project scope and objectives to support successful outcomes.
•Create financial models, develop budgets, perform investment appraisals, and identify success criteria, presenting these to the country manager to achieve financial investment approval.
•Manage early-stage development and create detailed project plans to allocate resources effectively.
•Identify, assess, and manage project risks, ensuring clear communication and prioritization.
•Negotiate land agreements, leases, access, and cable easements with key stakeholders.
•Coordinate closely with the EPC department to ensure a smooth transition into the construction phase.
Your Profile:
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Land, Property, Planning, Environmental Studies, or related discipline.
•2+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy or infrastructure project development.
•Skilled in negotiating land agreements and managing planning processes.
•Proficient in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Valid driving license.
•Proactive, diligent, and able to manage time and quality effectively under cost constraints.
