Overview:
The Multifunctional Equipment Integration Group in the Building and Transportation Science Division (BTSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking qualified candidates to fill a Post-Doctoral researcher position. The work in this group supports the U.S. DOE Building Technology Office and other DOE/EERE offices by developing state-of-the-art equipment for energy efficiency, decarbonization, renewable energy, and sustainability.

Major Duties / Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting, coordinating, and reporting complex research assignments related to separation process in building environment, including but not limited to carbon capture, dehumidification, and indoor air quality.
- Develop experimental setup, problem-solving, conducting experimental campaigns, performing materials synthesis and analysis, sub-component fabrication, process optimization and integration, and preparing technical documents and research publications.
- Present and report research results and publish scientific results in peer-reviewed journals in a timely manner fashion.
- Help the team goals and work with other team members
- Interacting and collaborating with researchers from universities, national laboratories, and private industry.

Basic Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related field completed within the last five years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in separation process, and various chemical and physical coating processes
- Hand-on experiments on preparation and characterization of the materials.
- An excellent record of productive and creative research as demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate in English to an international scientific audience
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative and frequently interacting teams of researchers
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs
Special Requirements:
Applicants cannot have received their Ph.D. more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment. The appointment length will be up to 24 months with the potential for extension. Initial appointments and extensions are subject to performance and availability of funding.
