Introduction

A leading South African manufacturer in the electronic systems sector is seeking a Senior Electronic Engineer to join their R&D division. This is a hands‑on design authority role, focused on developing high‑volume commercial products with strong emphasis on reliability, compliance, and innovation.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Full lifecycle electronic product development, from schematic through to industrialisation.
Dense multi‑layer PCB design using Altium.
Embedded hardware and microcontroller integration (STM32/ARM).
Switch‑mode power supply (SMPS) design and motor‑control electronics.
Hardware bring‑up, debugging, and verification testing.
Compliance with EMC/EMI and safety standards.
Collaboration with mechanical engineering and manufacturing teams.

Requirements:

Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in electronic product development.
Strong proficiency in Altium Designer and PCB layout.
Experience with embedded systems, firmware integration, and hardware debugging.
Preferred Attributes:
Ability to take ownership of technical platforms.
Strong problem‑solving and fault analysis skills.
Comfortable working across hardware, firmware, and manufacturing disciplines
Proven track record in high‑volume product development and industrialisation.
Knowledge of compliance standards and regulatory testing.
Relevant qualification in Electronic/Electrical Engineering (BEng/BTech/Diploma).
