Check the essentials before applying:
- Matric and a QCTO Red Seal Electrician qualification
- A Wireman’s License
- Hands-on solar installation experience, including roof and ground mounts
- Experience with micro and string inverters and setting up system monitoring
- Ability to read electrical drawings and lead assistants on site
- Computer skills, including MS Office and advanced Excel
The roleYou’ll work with the Project Supervisor and engineering team to install PV systems to approved designs. That includes assembling racking, sealing roof penetrations, installing system components, configuring monitoring and commissioning the installation. You’ll also diagnose faults, carry out basic inverter testing and firmware updates, and keep clear installation and maintenance records.
You’ll guide the crew, check workmanship and safety, and make sure work meets
SANS standards and project specifications. You’ll track materials and costs, flag risks early, help coordinate equipment and repairs, and keep customers informed. Projects must be delivered on time and within the approved budget.
Please also show us if you have:
- A National Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (NQF 6)
- AREP or SAPVIA PV Green Card certification
- Experience on large industrial or IPP solar projects
- ERP or Manufacturing Execution System (MES) experience
- Inverter testing experience involving UPS or rectifiers, or PCB replacement
