Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. On-Site Compliance & Environmental Monitoring
Conduct daily and weekly site-wide inspections across servitudes and project boundaries to verify
adherence to Environmental Authorisations (EA), water use licenses, and forest permits.
Monitor construction footprint boundaries to prevent unauthorized site clearing, protect endemic
flora/fauna, and manage physical erosion and sedimentation control measures.
Oversee proper management of waste streams, including safe storage, separation, and legal disposal of
general and hazardous site waste (e.g., transformer oils, fuels).
2. Incident Management & Risk Auditing
Identify, record, and report environmental incidents (such as hazardous chemical spills or excessive
dust/noise) in compliance with Eskom operational frameworks.
Formulate, issue, and closely track the close-out process of environmental Non-Conformance Reports
(NCRs) and execute immediate spill containment or mitigation operations.
Facilitate and present site environmental awareness toolboxes, method statement inductions, and
targeted green training sessions for contractors and field crews.
3. Reporting & Statutory Governance
Compile structured monthly Environmental Compliance Reports and organize comprehensive validation
packs for progressive audit review by Eskom Project Managers, Engineers, and Eco-auditors.
Act as the primary point of contact for external conservation stakeholders, environmental inspectors,
and local community representatives.
