How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
The Manager, Fundraising leads and executes major gift strategies that directly advance TRCA’s Meadoway project and the broader mission of Toronto and Region Conservation Foundation (TRCF). This role is accountable for securing significant philanthropic revenue to accelerate the Meadoway’s transformation into a world‑class, 16‑kilometre linear park and ecological corridor, while also building a sustainable pipeline of major and transformational donors committed to its long‑term success.
The Manager oversees the cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention of high‑capacity donors and prospects, with a strong emphasis on securing multi‑year investments that fuel Meadoway priorities, such as large‑scale meadow restoration, active transportation infrastructure, community engagement, and climate‑resilient green space development.
Major Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive major gift business plans aligned with TRCA and TRCF’s strategic priorities and annual revenue objectives
Manage and actively steward a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects with giving potential of $100K and above
Lead cultivation, solicitation, and closure of six- and seven-figure gifts, including multi-year pledges and blended gift structures
Develop and monitor annual revenue forecasts and pipeline projections to ensure revenue targets are met
Measure and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including donor retention, upgrade rates, pipeline movement, and solicitation outcomes.
Prepare high-quality proposals, impact reports, cases for support, and stewardship materials tailored to donor interests
Accountable for achieving annual fundraising revenue targets and major gift performance objectives, while managing costs and optimizing return on investment
Work closely with Senior Leadership Team (SLT), TRCF Board members, and senior management to develop and execute strategies for top-tier donor cultivation and solicitation
Represent TRCA and TRCF at donor meetings, community engagements, and select signature events to elevate philanthropic visibility
What will you need to succeed:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
University degree in Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or related field.
Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license
Experience
5+ years of progressive major gifts fundraising experience
Demonstrated success closing six-figure gifts and managing a seven-figure portfolio
Experience working with senior executives and Boards
Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
Applied knowledge of major gift strategy, donor lifecycle management, and fundraising best practices.
Exceptional negotiation, influencing, and closing skills
Ability to use critical thinking to evaluate donor opportunities, assess risk, and determine strategic approach
Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple high-value donor relationships simultaneously
Ability to identify and cultivate new philanthropic opportunities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate ideas, proposals, and project status for various audiences
Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating workload and multiple deadlines; adopts and leads through Project Management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall approaches
Proficiency in Blackbaud Raisers Edge and MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint
