DescriptionJob Purpose
The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Environment, Health & Safety systems to ensure a safe workplace, regulatory compliance, environmental sustainability, and zero-harm culture across the organization. The role involves risk management, statutory compliance, incident investigation, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement of EHS performance.
Key Responsibilities EHS Strategy & Management
- Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and standards aligned with organizational goals.
- Establish a strong safety culture through proactive leadership and employee engagement.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve world-class EHS performance.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Liaise with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and auditors.
- Maintain statutory records, permits, licenses, and legal documentation.
- Monitor changes in regulations and ensure timely implementation.
Risk Assessment & Hazard Management
- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) for all plant operations.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation plans.
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Permit-to-Work systems.
- Monitor contractor safety compliance and risk controls.
Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions
- Lead investigations of accidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Track closure of safety observations and corrective actions.
Environment Management
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to emissions, waste management, wastewater treatment, and pollution control.
- Monitor environmental performance indicators and sustainability initiatives.
- Coordinate with pollution control authorities and maintain environmental permits.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Conduct mock drills for fire, chemical spills, medical emergencies, and evacuation.
- Ensure readiness of firefighting systems, emergency equipment, and response teams.
Training & Awareness
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Conduct safety inductions and awareness campaigns.
- Promote behavioral safety and employee participation programs.
EHS Audits & Management Systems
- Lead internal and external EHS audits.
- Implement and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Monitor audit findings and ensure timely closure of observations.
Contractor & Visitor Safety
- Ensure contractors comply with site EHS requirements.
- Conduct contractor evaluations and safety performance reviews.
- Monitor permit-to-work compliance and contractor activities.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Track and report EHS KPIs on a regular basis.
- Prepare management reports, dashboards, and compliance reports.
- Analyze trends and recommend improvement actions.
