Solar Proposals Engineer to join our growing renewable energy team. This role combines technical design expertise, commercial acumen, and client engagement to deliver high-quality solar solutions for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and utility-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle proposal development for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and utility-scale solar projects, including:
- TSD data capture and analysis
- Helioscope solar array design and optimization
- Material costing and quotation preparation
- Energy Toolbase financial feasibility studies
- Professional proposal compilation and presentation
- Conduct site visits, technical inspections, and client assessments to support accurate system design and project feasibility.
- Deliver compelling client presentations and maintain strong customer relationships to support successful project conversion and business growth within the C&I sector.
- Drive business development initiatives and identify new opportunities in the renewable energy market.
- Collaborate closely with the Director on operational strategy, project planning, and team performance improvement.
- Oversee and support the proposals and sales team to ensure high-quality outputs, efficient turnaround times, and consistent service delivery.
- Provide aftersales support and system optimization services, including:
- Plant performance monitoring
- Peak shaving strategies
- Demand clipping and load optimization
- Ongoing performance analysis to maximize long-term savings and operational efficiency for clients
Minimum Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related technical field
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in solar proposal engineering or C&I solar project development
- Proficiency in Helioscope and Energy Toolbase
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems, energy storage, and C&I energy management strategies
- Experience preparing technical and commercial proposals
- Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills
- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for site visits
Advantageous Skills
- Experience with utility-scale solar projects
- Knowledge of peak demand management and energy optimization strategies
- Familiarity with Eskom tariffs and South African energy market dynamics
- PV design certifications or professional registration
