A leading renewable energy EPC company is seeking a skilled Solar Draughtsman to join their growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale commercial and industrial solar PV and BESS projects across South Africa. The business delivers turnkey solar solutions, including rooftop, ground-mounted, hybrid, and battery storage systems for major commercial clients.
Duties:
- Produce detailed solar PV layouts, single line diagrams (SLDs), and electrical drawings
- Prepare construction drawings, as-built drawings, and technical documentation
- Develop mounting structure and equipment layouts for rooftop and ground-mounted systems
- Assist engineering and project teams with design modifications and drawing updates
- Ensure that all drawings comply with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications
- Coordinate with project engineers, procurement, and site teams during project execution
- Maintain drawing registers and revision control processes
- Support tender and proposal teams with preliminary layouts and technical drawings
- Conduct site measurements and assist with technical site assessments where required
- Work on grid-tied, hybrid, off-grid, and BESS projects
Minimum Requirements:
- Draughting qualification or relevant technical certification
- 3+ years’ draughting experience within solar, electrical, or renewable energy projects
- Proficient in AutoCAD and related draughting software
- Experience with solar PV systems and electrical reticulation drawings
- Understanding of commercial and industrial solar installations
- Ability to interpret engineering and electrical designs
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Experience with PVsyst, Helioscope, or Revit will be advantageous
