Position Overview:
The Bentway’s Marketing and Communications Associate is an integral part of The Bentway team, working within the Marketing and Communications Department to engage with audiences, grow attendance, capture and share memorable moments, and help tell The Bentway’s story.
The Associate leads digital marketing across web, social media, and email – planning and executing campaigns; producing web content and managing event ticketing; driving digital promotions and outreach; and compiling reports on campaign performance. They also guide content capture and creation, documenting Bentway projects and events, helping to shape and deliver The Bentway’s institutional voice, and serving as an ambassador for community dialogue across digital channels.
This role requires occasional evening and weekend availability for event coverage. This posting is for an active vacancy.

The Bentway Conservancy is a non-profit organization and registered charity that works closely with the City of Toronto, artists & creatives, and local communities to bring our work to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Digital Content: Develop an engaging cross-platform digital content calendar (social, email, web). Produce compelling digital content and program documentation that reflects the creativity of Bentway programming.
- Social Media: Coordinate all Bentway social channels (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, LinkedIn) and plan, produce, publish, and reshare scheduled and responsive content. Ensure alignment with brand guidelines, monitor tends, recommend content selections, capture live event content, and archive assets for future use. Build an active audience by responding to comments, DMs, and email inquiries; foster positive social conversations, dialogue, buzz, and relationships, and loop in relevant team members when needed.
- Email Marketing: Produce clear, engaging, and strategic Mailchimp newsletters, including additional sends for major announcements or event promotions, and strategic retargeting campaigns.
- Engagement: Plan and execute activities to promote programs, including distributing materials to partner organizations and the public, tabling, submitting listings to external event sites.
- Outreach: Oversee the delivery of promotional commitments with third-party vendors, securing in-kind promotional opportunities to increase brand visibility, and co-promotion opportunities with like-minded organizations.
- Event Ticketing: Manage Eventbrite listings: answer inquiries, handle refund/transfer requests, schedule reminder emails.
- Partner Asset Development: Prepare graphics and social media kits for partners using Canva, InDesign, or Photoshop.
- Administrative Reporting: Track PR mentions, prepare weekly ticketing/sales reports, and provide support with file uploads to Canto and Dropbox as needed.
- Audience Research: Deliver seasonal surveys and ad-hoc data collection to learn more about out audiences, coordinate question development with staff, monitor and promote engagement, and report on findings.
- Strategy Implementation: Work with the Manager, Marketing & Communications to execute The Bentway’s social media strategy and support goals for event attendance, initiatives, and brand awareness.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Compensation
Salary: $55,000/year (pro-rated for a 6 month contract)
Skills and Qualifications:
- 3-5 years Relevant experience in marketing, writing, customer service, outreach, community engagement, coordination for arts or non-profits.
- Demonstrated expertise in digital and social media marketing, managing and optimizing social media accounts to meet organizational objectives
- Familiarity with (or eagerness to learn) digital management systems, including Mailchimp, Later, Notion, Canto
- Basic knowledge of design software, such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.
- Proficiency with video and video editing software and strong photography skills
- Proven ability to multi-task and work collaboratively under tight timelines
- Enthusiastic about arts, culture, and public space.
