A leading renewable energy solutions provider is seeking a Solar Design Engineer to join its growing technical team. The role focuses on the design, optimisation, and technical support of commercial and industrial solar PV systems, with exposure to end-to-end project delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented Engineer who is passionate about clean energy and wants to contribute to high-impact solar projects across South Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design grid‑tied and hybrid solar PV systems for commercial and industrial applications
- Perform site assessments, shading analysis, and system performance simulations
- Prepare technical drawings, single-line diagrams, and layout designs
- Select and size PV modules, inverters, mounting systems, and balance-of-system components
- Ensure that designs comply with relevant standards and regulations (SANS, NRS, and municipal requirements)
- Provide technical support during project procurement, installation, and commissioning
- Collaborate with project managers, installers, and sales teams to ensure seamless delivery
Education:
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Solar PV certifications will be advantageous
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- 2–5 years' experience in solar PV system design
- Experience with commercial and industrial solar projects
- Proficiency in PV design software (PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD or similar)
- Strong understanding of SANS, NRS, and municipal electrical regulations
- Ability to prepare technical drawings and system documentation
- Valid driver’s licence
