BESS Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of battery energy storage projects. You will play a key role in integrating energy storage solutions with renewable energy systems and grid infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for utility-scale and commercial projects
- Perform system sizing, modeling, and performance analysis
- Support project development, including feasibility studies and technical due diligence
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, and stakeholders
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and testing of BESS projects
- Ensure compliance with grid codes, safety standards, and regulations
- Troubleshoot system issues and optimize performance
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and drawings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3–7+ years of experience in energy storage, renewables, or power systems
- Strong knowledge of lithium-ion battery technologies and BESS architecture
- Experience with power system studies and simulation tools (e.g., ETAP, DIgSILENT, PSCAD)
- Familiarity with grid integration, inverters, and SCADA systems
- Understanding of South African grid codes (advantageous)
