As a Lead Control & Protection System Engineer, you will be responsible to lead the design and provide a competitive technical solution to the customer in the domain of HVDC control and protection system (Automation & Application), associated AC & secondary engineering at the ITO stage. This includes analysing customer requirements, assessing the necessary deviations from our standard product while promoting standard solutions & cost competitivity. You will be part of Reference solution team that develops and maintains standard solutions and costs for HVDC & AC control & protection systems and provides overall tender solution with associated documentation in line with customer requirement. As a part of the team, your contribution would be a foundation of efficient and good quality project delivery.
Analyze in depth customer specification, identify gaps, raise clarifications & build solid technical solution to cater to customer requirement for HVDC & AC control & protection system
In coordination with systems team, design/contribute to AC substation Single line diagrams
Prepare control, protection and sequencing strategy specifications
Perform preliminary dynamic performance studies in various simulation tools (MATLAB, PSCAD etc).
Support improvements to existing algorithm/strategies for power fault recovery or instability issues during DPS studies
Develop/ Customize standard control architectures, design of LAN networks, identify main IO lists through signal mapping & implement the necessary hardware & its compatibility with the control system
Knowledge of network and latest protocols (like IEC 61850)
In coordination with cybersecurity expert, analyse compliance to cybersecurity standards and their implementation in the network
Coordinate with internal and external partners to provide a complete solution with clear division of responsibility
Provide input data like auxiliary consumption, cubicle/equipment list to partners
Prepare technical specifications for sourcing and validation of offers received.
Lead the discussions during customer meetings/workshops
Plan & ensure on-time delivery of engineering documents and cost estimates
Evaluate risks and opportunities & proposes mitigation measures
Contribute to continuous improvement by participating & promoting standardization of tools, documents, solutions & equipment
Provide mentorship/trainings to junior engineers
Provide technical support being an expert in your domain
Follow the departments standard design practices, engineering reviews and guidelines.
Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes in EMH
Cross functional training across teams (Control Automation Systems, Control System Application, Protection System Application, Secondary engineering) will be provided.
