Position: Lead – Market Intelligence and Carbon Credits
Designation: Senior Manager
Reporting to: Head – Business and Project Development
Team Size: 1-2 direct reports
Experience: 7-12 years, with a minimum of 5 years in the Renewable Energy sector in India
Qualification: MBA – Power (NPTI/UPES) or General Management
Job Responsibilities
1. Market Intelligence & Power Sector Analysis
- Analyze and track the Indian power market, focusing on demand-supply trends and emerging opportunities.
- Monitor and interpret regulatory provisions at both central and state levels, with a special focus on:
- Captive Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
- Renewable Energy policies, rules, and tariff orders.
- Tariff Policy, Indian Electricity Grid Code (IEGC), Open Access, and Connectivity Procedures.
- Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) and State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) regulations.
- Prepare and present periodic reports on power market trends and regulatory updates to the management.
- Support the bidding team with market intelligence, policy insights, and bid-related activities.
- Engage with key stakeholders, including:
- Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
- Industry associations such as WIPPA, to advocate for the company’s interests.
2. Carbon Markets & Credit Mechanisms
- Assess and leverage carbon market mechanisms for company’s renewable energy projects.
- Identify relevant voluntary and compliance market programs for carbon credit registration.
- Ensure timely registration of projects under applicable mechanisms to maximize carbon credit benefits.
- Coordinate with consultants and auditors for project registration and issuance of carbon credits.
Skills Required
- Strong understanding of the Indian power sector, regulatory frameworks, and carbon market mechanisms.
- Proficiency in analyzing policies, tariff structures, and market trends.
- Ability to collaborate with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present insights to senior management.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills for regulatory and industry interactions.
- Comfort in engaging with top management and external stakeholders.
