ING has a strong ambition to be a leader in accelerating the low-carbon transition, which is the driver behind the aim to put sustainability at the heart of our strategy. The newly created Sustainable Solutions Group (SSG, a merger of Sustainable Finance and the Sector Sustainability Leads teams), drives the overall sustainability strategy of the WB within the Sector Coverage organization.
Within SSG, the Systemic Change Accelerator team is a newly set up team with the aim to develop and commercialize scalable innovative sustainability solutions and services which drive positive impact and contribute to the systemic change needed.
The tooling, data and extensive knowledge we are collecting and developing across ING provide a hidden asset to develop into a commercial strategy to support our clients with services beyond INGs current products and services. The proposition for our clients – and possibly our peers – will be based on combining all our knowledge of a.o transition plan assessment, the wider reporting, disclosure, risk and compliance data into relevant expertise on climate risk mitigation and adaptation. And beyond where we can do so for other key sustainability themes of ING such as nature.
By converting our extensive knowledge and expertise into novel ideas we aim to:
Bring a differentiated proposition to our clients beyond the existing products and services of ING
Continue to further accelerate our clients progress on transition and drive the fundamental systemic change needed across our client sectors
Unlock a new source of income and identify advisory opportunities for ING
Success would be for these services to strengthen client and peer relationships, enhance ING’s sustainability leader role and to be positioned as an ‘end to end provider” of sustainability transition services.
To achieve this, we will:
Identify the market opportunity for ING, in other words: where to play, what to offer, who to serve and how to win
Establish partnerships: Develop the value proposition to build new capabilities to support our clients, whether by developing this in-house and/or by establishing the right partnership(s) to bring this forward
From risk to value: Develop new business propositions by using our existing capabilities and expertise to support our clients - and the market - to accelerate transition pathways
Advocacy: translate the SCA end to end transition services knowledge into the ING’s overall advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
