Sunrun seeks a seasoned, savvy and effective political and policy operative to manage engagement with Congress and the federal government. As a member of Sunrun’s Policy team, you will work directly with company leadership and will represent Sunrun externally before congressional offices and federal agencies, advocating for and securing critical policy objectives.
Responsibilities:
Lead the development and execution of policy strategies with Congress and federal agencies
Collaborate with congressional staff on energy, tax, trade and other legislative priorities
Collaborate with agency staff on issues as needed
Educate congressional and agency staff on benefits of customer-sited generation and storage solutions for individual Americans and overall grid needs
Establish partnerships and build alignment with energy stakeholder organizations
Monitor, analyze and report back on material legislative developments
Draft letters, regulatory comments, and other written materials
Work across the business to identify and pursue company policy objectives
Location & Travel:
This is a remote position based in the Washington, D.C. area
~10% travel outside D.C., as required
Qualifications:
At least 5 years experience in public policy work.
Detailed knowledge of Congressional policy, process and politics. Tax policy is a bonus.
Established relationships with Congressional offices, particularly with Republican members
Strong network of connections in federal policy, conservative think tanks, or energy industry
Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and work independently
Demonstrated ability to motivate others and lead coalitions
Strong passion for customer-sited energy resources like home batteries and solar and the exciting possibilities they offer American families and national energy security

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity:
$123,452.78 to $164,603.71

Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, based on both company and individual performance, as well as short- and long-term incentives and program-specific awards.
