Senior Sustainability Manager
Based in Budapest
Position Purpose:
The Senior Sustainability Manager reports to the Head of Government Affairs and Sustainability and is based at the company’s head office in Budapest. She/he is responsible for leading the Group’s Sustainability / ESG functions, focusing on the implementation of sustainability strategies and reporting. The Senior Sustainability Manager collaborates with various departments to monitor and enhance the company's ESG performance, ensuring compliance with global sustainability frameworks and driving initiatives aimed at achieving the Group's sustainability objectives. This position requires a proactive approach to sustainability practices and a passion for advancing the company’s net-zero transition and sustainability goals in a fast-evolving environment.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of the Group Sustainability Strategy and manage Sustainability Reporting functions.
- Proactively monitor and analyze ESG / Sustainability reporting best practices and emerging disclosure requirements, ensuring continuous improvement in sustainability reporting performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, HR, finance, purchasing, customer service, etc.) to collect information on the company’s ESG performance.
- Support corporate sustainability disclosures, ensuring alignment with reporting frameworks (TCFD, GRI, CSRD, CDP), data aggregation, and associated controls.
- Actively contribute to Wizz Air’s EU CSRD-compliant reporting preparations.
- Lead the drafting process of the Group’s annual sustainability disclosures.
- Drive the Group’s participation in sustainability ratings and assessments.
- Stay informed on European Union sustainability and climate change regulations (e.g., Green Deal), as well as country-specific legislation.
- Lead the preparation of the Company’s net-zero transition plan.
- Develop position papers and presentations for Senior Management, for meetings with key stakeholders.
- Conduct sustainability benchmarking for aviation decarbonization best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree in business, finance, or a related field is a plus)
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in sustainability, ESG reporting, or regulatory functions in a multinational company or a relevant sector.
- Experience in leading teams.
- Excellent written and oral English skills.
- Strong presentation skills and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Business and financial competence to evaluate sustainability-related risks and opportunities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience in the airline or hard-to-abate sectors is an advantage.
- Ability to live and work in Budapest, Hungary.
- High degree of independence.
- Flexibility to travel as required.
