Responsibilities
- Oversee the research, design, and development of ML-based products for weather and power generation forecasting in Vestas Power Plant products
- Design cost-effective systems using current big data architectures, cloud services, and MLOps processes with a clear focus on operational excellence
- Integrate and promote best practices in data-driven digital product lifecycle management: design patterns, development workflows, DevOps and MLOps that ensure highest quality standards
- Define the goals clearly and reach results with a motivated response. Freedom in work is important, but contributions must connect with the general product vision and business targets
- Collaborate well with team members to keep communication open and ensure the team is aligned. Your role will involve both decision making and teamwork, with accountability for your assigned outcomes and technical leadership in Data Science related aspects, both within the team and towards stakeholders across the entire organization
- Adopt a mindset of ongoing improvement and learning. Be open to experimentation, respond to new requirements, and apply feedback loops to refine your approach, ensuring your work evolves with product needs
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or master’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field, with at least 5 years of work experience in the renewable energy sector
- Technical experience in Machine Learning, Statistical modelling, predictive analytics and probabilistic forecasting
- Working experience with Numerical Weather Prediction models (NWP's) and wind turbine data (SCADA)
- Exercises programming skills in the Python data science stack (Pandas, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, etc.)
- Proficiency in software engineering practices, including software architecture design, version control (Git), CI/CD, and automated testing
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies and frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Databricks, Snowflake)
- Experience building, deploying and monitoring ML-based system in production environments using model ML-Ops tools and frameworks (ML-Flow)
