Summary:
The Stormwater and Environmental Compliance Coordinator is responsible for providing task leadership and technical guidance for implementation and compliance for the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia ordinances and/or laws, as well as federal. This position requires a high degree of professional engineering judgment, construction knowledge, and technical civil engineering and regulatory experience in the fields of stormwater management design, inspection, maintenance, and flood control. As well as underground tank, asphalt plant, air quality and other construction industry related regulations and permitting processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site inspections for all Fort Myer projects and properties
- Investigate workplace environmental incidents
- Develops and leads the implementation of risk management strategies at the project level.
- Analyzes cost effectiveness of risk control measures at the project level.
- Develops and assists with site specific Toolbox Talks and Safety Flashes, Production Review meetings, and monthly training modules.
- Assess potential impact certain processes may have on the environment
- Investigate employee complaints regarding exposure to hazardous material
- Ensure clients are complying with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations
- Communicating with the field team and Project Manager, supporting project tasks to assess project conformance with project plans and specifications.,
- Assure that clarifications and interpretations required for proper execution of the contract are implemented.
- Review permit applications
- Prepare reports
- Develop and maintain a working relationship with DOEE, EPA, Maryland and Virginia Environmental agencies
- May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
- Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field (required)
- 5-10 years or more of experience in heavy construction and environmental leadership
- Must possess excellent communication in verbal and written.
- Excellent time management skills along with being a proactive problem solver.
- Erosion and Sediment Control Professional Certification
- Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) designation is preferred
- Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VDEQ) certifications to include Stormwater Management Combined Administrator. As well as applicable DC, Maryland and/or federal.
- Must be knowledgeable of MSHA, DOES, DDOT and VDOT regulations.
- Completed training and certifications for OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, Hazmat awareness, OSHA 30-hour construction, confined space entry training, and fall protection/prevention training.
- Qualified Compliance Inspector of Stormwater Certification - Required
- Construction Stormwater Inspection Certification - Required
- Qualified Preparer of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans Certification - Required
- Professional Envision Sustainability Certification – Required
- UST Operator Certification – Required
- Experience working in construction management software including ProCore and Viewpoint
- Knowledgeable about current environmental regulations and potential regulatory changes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to conduct quality assurance and quality control.
- Excellent hazard recognition ability.
- Driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must be detail oriented.
