JOB PROFILE SUMMARY
Job Title: HR Manager
Reports to:
·Representative/CEO of SSE Pacifico K.K. (“SSEP”)
·Human Resources Business Partner, SSE Renewables (“SSER”)
ABOUT ROLE
SSER aims to triple its renewable generation output to 30TWh by 2030. A significant portion of this capacity will be secured through competitive processes or auctions worldwide. SSEP’s strategy is to contribute to SSER’s target by winning offshore wind project auctions in Japan. The HR Manager will work closely with the SSEP leadership team to build an agile, fast-paced, high-performance team to achieve SSER’s target. Established in October 2021, SSEP is in the early stages of rapid growth.
SSEP currently has 41 employees and 8 open positions. If the auction is awarded, additional hires (20 to 30 positions) are expected.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
HR Strategy Development: Develop an HR strategy and people plan for the Japan business that aligns with local regulations, laws, and company culture whilst delivering the global HR requirements of the Renewables business and Group.
Integration: Collaborate with the SSE HR team to implement global policies, programs, tools, and resources when aligned with the HR strategy.
Budget Management: Work closely with the SSE Finance team to manage the company’s personnel costs.
Policy Implementation: Implement both HQ-driven and local HR policies, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations. Communicate, promote, and train management and employees on these policies, involving employee representatives.
Payroll and Benefits: Manage the local payroll vendor to run monthly payroll and communicate with the accounting vendor (Deloitte JP and Spain team) for monthly accounting work. Ensure placement of local benefits provided under the employment contract
Talent & Succession: Deliver the talent and succession framework in the country to identify and develop talent and ensure that we have a pipeline of succession for key leadership and technical roles
Employee Engagement & Inclusive Culture: Support the local team to achieve high levels of employee engagement, including surveys and action plans, and build an inclusive and diverse culture
Recruitment: Successfully hires highly qualified employees by setting recruitment strategies, managing recruitment agencies, and direct sourcing. This involves screening candidates, interviewing, and extending offers aligned to the workforce plan.
JML (Joiners, Moves, and Leavers) Process: Manage the entire employee life-cycle for HR administration and advice.
Performance Management: Implement “Performance Edge” (SSE performance management approach) locally and manage a high-performance culture.
Safety and Health Management: Work closely with the Safety Manager on employee health and safety.
Compensation and Benefits: If necessary, collaborate with the HR Benefit/Reward team in SSER. Ensure market-aligned Rewards in the country and appropriate governance.
Global Relocation: Provide support and apply strategies to attract and retain global talent in relation to recruitment.
Advisory Role: Coach leaders and provide advice to managers and employees to help everyone succeed and manage people-related issues.

SKILLS and EXPERIENCES
·Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
·Proficiency in Business English and fluent in Japanese
·Experience in a multinational matrixed organization (HQ is in UK/US)
·Comprehensive knowledge of HR practices (including payroll)
·Ability to distil complex and often conflicting information and communicate on a variety of levels
·Hands-on (this position does not have a subordinate)
·Good IT literacy (Office 365, Adobe Pro, ATS)
