Position Title: Housekeeper
Department: Facility Operations
Classification: Part -Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
The position requires a self-motivated and dedicated individual who will take direction from the Director of Facility Operations and the Housekeeping Supervisor and is responsible for the proper implementation of daily requirements for the cleanliness of the facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs cleaning and housekeeping tasks and services throughout assigned areas including but not limited to mopping and sweeping
- Maintains a positive, self-motivated attitude while completing all duties and responsibilities
- Adheres to all of Mississippi Aquarium’s policies and procedures, including our COVID-19 guidelines
- Maintain positive guest relationships; Responds appropriately to guest inquiries and concerns to ensure total guest satisfaction.
- Handle guest issues to resolution in effort to improve the guest experience and escalate any outstanding guest inquiry or concern to management that may require additional monitoring or follow-up.
- Picks up and empties trash and recycling receptacles
- Examines property for safety hazards; reports problems to the Housekeeping Lead, Housekeeping Supervisor, Director of Facility Operations, or other appropriate staff.
- Assists with ensuring that cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked
- Undertakes special projects as assigned by manager(s)
This position may involve exposure to inclement weather, dust, potentially dangerous and unpredictable animal species, and potential dangerous machinery, restraint devices and toxic chemicals and/or drugs. Occasional use of protective clothing or equipment is required (e.g.: goggles, mask, gloves, and gowns).
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1 year of housekeeping experience preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Detail oriented and thorough
- Ability to give high priority to customer service
- Thorough understanding of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions
- Ability to operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance
- Ability to keep the property clean and orderly
- Good interpersonal skills with polite and courteous demeanor toward staff and guests of Mississippi Aquarium
