Position Summary:
The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for managing EPC contracting activities on a large volume of fast-paced EV charging infrastructure projects. A bridge between Development Engineering, Utility Integration, and Project Deployment, the Senior Project Engineer will scope projects and identify the right contractors who can support EVgo’s network growth plans. The successful candidate will have prior engineering and construction experience, ideally with an EPC firm, and will have demonstrated experience for analyzing large amounts of data from ERPs, have excellent attention to detail, and be a self-starter, problem-solver, and team player. The position is remote and will manage EPC contracting activities for sites across the United States with up to 20% travel.
Responsibilities:
- Build and manage construction RFP’s using EVgo’s centralized RFP system.
- Collaborate closely with the Development Engineering, Grid Integration and Public Funding Account Management teams to ensure the completeness of project RFP scopes.
- Provide analysis of contractor bids for design/build services for all EVgo charging infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate the resolution of Requests for Information during the bidding and construction phases and manage the review and approval of change orders.
- Ensure proper project accounting and keep project estimated costs at completion up to date.
Required Skills and Experience:
- BS/ MS in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred with Professional Engineering license highly preferred).
- 5-10 years of experience in construction-related projects.
- Understanding of labor laws, administering compliance programs.
- Utility, Renewables (commercial solar, energy storage) experience.
- Salesforce ERP management software experience (ideally Sitetracker, or similar). Tableau experience is a plus
- Ability to work on a high volume of short timeline (3-6 month) projects.
- Project estimating, construction-related costing methods, RFP methodologies.
- Understanding of electrical distribution networks and utility/AHJ requirements.
- An eye for improving and/or streamlining existing business processes.
- Taking initiative, working independently, and launching projects without direct supervision
For job positions in CA, CO, and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $125,000 USD to $140,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, discretionary target cash bonus, and restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval).
