The leading Waste Management Firm in South Africa is seeking an experienced Environmental Officer to join their team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and reporting of environmental compliance monitoring.
In order to be considered for this role you must have the following:

Matric
-
BSC (Hons) Environmental Science
-
3 years’ experience in a similar role
-
Experience in Drafting and implementation of Environmental Programs
-
Valid Drivers licence
-
Own, reliable vehicle
Key Job Responsibilities (But not limited to):
-
Inspection and monitoring of environmental reports
-
Adherence to environmental processes and procedures.
-
EMI audits
-
Ensure environmental monitoring is conducted in accordance with licence requirements and
legal obligations
-
Liaison with various service providers to conduct environmental monitoring
-
Ensure monitoring schedule is maintained and complied with
-
Review Water reports
-
Review air quality reports
-
Review gas emission reports
-
Review buffer zone reports
-
Identify non-conformances and report on appropriate systems eg Isometrix
-
Liaise with operations regarding Non-conformances and implementation of recommendations
-
Open management plans where required
-
Ensure monitoring protocols are in place and adhered to
-
Constantly challenge activities against costs, value and compliance
-
Assess and report on adverse impact e.g. resulting in complaints. Investigate and liaise with
stakeholders to address.

Field inspections and assessments relating to monitoring
-
Assistance with all aspects of EMI audits including attendance and response
