Our Next Intermediate Consultant…
Our next Intermediate Consultant will provide knowledge of consulting and mining (intermediate technical expertise) to support integrated mine planning and closure solutions for our clients. This position will help to drive, provide input, and support the development of Okane’s Rehabilitation and Reclamation group to provide our clients with standard and innovative ways to manage mine closure risks.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Create detailed technical documentation and reports related to the technical field.
- Apply an understanding of soil science, geoscience, ecology, and environmental revegetation, or principles to assist in delivering new approaches to solve basic problems.
- Proficiency in using ArcGIS or QGIS software.
- Tasks may include assessing soil, vegetation, land use, and land management.
- Conduct revegetation and/or reclamation investigations to support projects, including site investigations and monitoring equipment installations.
- Work directly with contractors and heavy equipment operators to execute reclamation and revegetation plans.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders of varying expertise levels.
- Cultivate and sustain client relationships.
- Conduct background reviews for conceptual model development.
- Update and manage databases.
- Plan and lead field investigations such as material characterization, sampling programs, and construction QA/QC projects.
- Provide support for instrumentation procurement and calibration.
- Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines in all work execution.
Job Requirements:
- Educational background in earth sciences, environmental science, soil science, geology, ecology, or environmental/reclamation technology is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of drafting software such as GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS), as well as field mapping.
- Comfortable with laborious or rigorous tasks in the field.
- Comfortable and experienced with working alone scenarios.
- Comfortable working outdoors in remote settings and variable weather conditions for extended periods of time.
- Skills in data management and interpretation as required.
- Detail-oriented, analyzing and documenting test findings.
- Makes independent technical decisions and recommendations.
- Solves problems by using a combination of standard procedures and devising new approaches.
- Understand the financial aspects of their work and work to manage and follow budgets.
- Coordinates complex assignments with the team.
- Training and mentoring of junior employees.
- Leverages existing professional networks to pursue new leads, opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
