Operations and Maintenance Technician - Solar

SkyFire Energy is looking for experienced O&M Technicians to add to our quickly growing O&M Division.
We welcome candidates that are certified Journeyperson Electricians with solar experience, that are interested in starting or continuing a career in the solar Operations and Maintenance sector. This individual will be self-motivated, energetic, personable, with great leadership skills, and is excited to work as part of a fast-growing company in the solar industry.
Primary duties include:
- Respond and travel to multiple sites located in Southern and Central Alberta
- Ensure crew and job site safety in an Industrial environment
- Perform Preventative Maintenance on inverters, racking, transformers, capacitors, switchgear, etc.
- Assess and troubleshoot Utility-scale solar equipment software and/or component failures
- Perform equipment repairs and/or replacements following Standard Operating Procedures
- Commissioning of Utility-scale solar equipment and projects
- Documentation and reporting of daily tasks using internal software applications
- Liaising with customers, subcontractors, internal SFE O&M team and other stakeholders
- Represent SkyFire Energy with professionalism, safe work habits, humility and integrity
Qualifications:
- Red-Seal Journeyperson Certificate required
- Experience with medium and high voltage electrical work
- Strong electrical understanding and troubleshooting
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Be in good health and physically fit (must be able to lift equipment and other items up to 60lbs)
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
- A valid class 5 license with a clean driving record
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Safe work practices and understanding of LOTO, Arc Flash Boundaries and levels of PPE
- Ability to work safely in a high potential Utility environment
- Must be available to join the "On Call Rotation" to respond and react quickly to emergency situations on sites
- Must be available to work regularly out of town on projects for durations of 2 days to 2+ weeks
- Willingness to learn and adhere to all safety rules and regulations
- Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing schedule and work conditions
Assets (preferred but not required):
- Solar training and/or solar installation certification (SAIT, NAIT, NABCEP, SEI, etc)
- Solar installation experience – Utility and Industrial projects
- Fall protection training/certification
- Experience with medium and high voltage switchgear
- Willingness to work on Utility-scale solar installation projects
