Rystad Energy is seeking an ambitious, analytical and detail-oriented individual to lead our China solar research. The successful candidate will play a key role in our growing global solar team, and growing our business both in China and globally. We are seeking a candidate who wants to excel in data analysis, market research, public speaking, and client engagement. The ideal candidate will have a passion for analyzing complex energy markets using data and statistical analysis, have an internal drive for building and innovating unique databases and reports, a desire to stay in touch with market participants across the supply chain, developers, and financial community to fully understand the market and to drive business growth. The ideal candidate will also be a person that has a desire to become a key market voice through publications and speaking at conferences and other events.
Job responsibilities include analyzing activity and forecasting future markets and trends in the solar supply chain market, with a special focus on the Chinese market. The candidate is expected to be a self-starter and conduct data analysis and market research with minimal supervision, sometimes under tight deadlines, but also work in close collaboration with the broader team on different projects. This role will also be client-facing, and successful candidates are expected to present findings from market research and analysis at client sites, industry or Rystad Energy events.
Job Responsibilities
- Track solar PV manufacturers along the value chain.
- Gather, process, analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources to fully understand market developments
- Understand solar PV cost formation and forecast future prices
- Develop our solar market and supply chain databases and tools
- Solve clients' business problems by creating internal workflows, including data analysis, primary research through interviews, and data gathering from public and proprietary sources
- Maintain and expand the network of primary intelligence sources in the solar industry
- Assist with business development activities such as sharing market views, explaining the methodology and research processes through virtual presentations or in-person presentations at industry or Rystad Energy events
- Write insightful commentaries and reports on industry trends
- Present the company’s view of the solar market at internal and external industry events and via webinars
- Support our external clients, consultants and business development team
Experience & Skills
- 3-10 years of relevant work experience, preferably from renewable energy research, consulting / consulting-like environment, or engineering, preferably with experience from working in or with the solar industry
- Knowledge and genuine interest in renewables and power, and preferably a deeper knowledge in the solar supply chain
- University degree in a data driven or energy field such as mathematics, engineering, economics or information technology
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on attitude
- Self-motivated, proactive and independent as well as a strong team player
- Outstanding ability to synthesize data and information coming from multiple sources (quantitative and qualitative)
- Desire to work with both the technical and financial aspects of the energy market
- Fluent in English and Mandarin; other languages are a plus
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency with data handling and presentation tools such as Power Point, Excel, Power BI, SQL and Python
- Ability to present and defend market views and research at public events or client sites
- Ability to conduct interactive analysis of short-term supply and activity developments using business intelligence tools
