Job Summary:
The Project Manager’s responsibilities will oversee the full development cycle of our projects, with a key focus being on managing the consenting phase and stakeholder relationships.
Location: New Zealand (Auckland)
Responsibilities:
- Oversee our project consenting activities in New Zealand, including:
- project plans and scheduling of development activities such as environmental assessments, the work of contractors and consultants etc.
- contractor management including tendering, contracting, work scopes, project plans, site activities, reviewing deliverables, HSE, progress reporting and financial management.
- Support the Country Manager to originate new project opportunities and in relation to these prospects contribute to:
- a “red flag” review of project opportunities.
- ranking the prospects and recommend decisions for acceptance or rejection.
- negotiation of land agreements.
- Monitor policy consultation opportunities in NZ, identify relevant policies for Yinson to submit on, and work with the Country Manager to provide influential submissions.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with local partners, developers, community stakeholders, contractors and suppliers.
- Work with internal finance and accounting teams to check and process contractor and consultant invoices.
- Keep up-to-date market knowledge including awareness of outcomes, tactics and lessons learned from activities in the renewable energy industry within NZ.
- Keep the Country Manager and Senior Management team informed about industry developments and changes to local regulations, permits, and compliance requirements related to renewable energy projects, and ensuring that our operations and projects adhere to this.
- Oversee HSE aspects of the projects, maintain good practices, identify corrective actions, recommend improvements, and ensure HSWA compliance including any reporting.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- Minimum 10 years’ relevant work experience including 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Proven track record in project management, project permitting and development, within the renewable energy industry.
- Good understanding of renewable energy technologies, their applications and environmental effects.
- Familiarity and experience of the environmental process for renewable energy projects.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with local energy policies, regulations, and market dynamics.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Fluent English, verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, international environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Ability to work independently and travel when needed.
- Right to live and work in New Zealand.
- Preference for a candidate to be based in or near Auckland.
